Howto Share folder/files in windows LAN

In this tutorial we will learn how to share files/folders between windows machines in local area network. You do not need complicated network settings or file sharing server. Its pretty easy and quick to setup file sharing in windows.

Assume you are in small home or office network and have to share file/folder on network with partial or full permissions. Windows provide some features to get this done in quick way.

Shared Folder in Windows 7/8/10

Create a folder or if you want to share existing folder then go to particular folder right click on it. Drop down list will show  options. Select properties;

Dialog box will show some tabs.  Go to sharing tab and in below image you will see the share and Advance sharing button. Choose any one to config but here I am going to show you both category;

First click on share button you will see the option to add users for shared folder. Click share button. Now folder will be shared.

Or click on Advance Sharing button.  Check the share folder and here you can set the permissions of read, change and full control. Click Apply and then click ok button.

This  is difference between share and advance sharing.

Click on permission button to set Allow and Deny restriction for particular and all users. You can add users by clicking on add button.

Below Image shows shared folder is configured it shows the network path and this is the confirmation of sharing.

Other System for Access Shared folder

Go to start button in the taskbar and write in the text area run or press and hold Start/Windows + R button and type the ip address of windows sharing folder click ok.

Provide Username and password for access data/files and click ok button.

Now you are able to use read and copy these files from shared folder.
